New: Lyssn Launches MI for Health and Human Services

We’re thrilled to announce that Motivational Interviewing for Health and Human Services is the latest addition to Lyssn’s Learn & Practice library, created and led by Dr. Mary Hodorowicz!

Motivational Interviewing (MI) has become an essential evidence-based approach for facilitating behavior change and improving client outcomes. With a focus on equipping professionals with MI skills and concepts to be used effectively within HHS settings, this interactive program focuses on practical skills and immediate application, providing prompt feedback to hone MI skills in real time.

 

Learn & Practice Highlights:

Module 1: Partnering & Engaging with Reflections 

  • Practice examples of simple, complex, double-sided reflections along with explanations of why they are classified as the respective reflection type. 

Module 2: Recognizing & Reflecting Change Talk 

  • Develop skills to identify change talk amid sustain talk while facilitating meaningful behavior change conversations.

Module 3: Open Questions to Deepen Conversation 

  • Learn to ask questions that open up conversation and elicit responses from a client’s interaction. 

Module 4: Motivating Ways to Share Information 

  • Develop information sharing techniques in a motivational way with clients through asking appropriate follow-up questions.

Module 5: Open Questions Focused on Planning 

  • Practice structuring MI conversations through an evidence-based framework that guides clients through engagement, focus, evocation, and planning phases.

 


 

Throughout the learning journey, participants engage with realistic scenarios with practice clients, allowing them to apply their new skills immediately. The program emphasizes reflection, recognizing change talk, utilizing open questioning techniques, sharing information motivationally, and structuring effective MI conversation.
