Secure file recording and storage

Access to files is restricted to approved users, who can easily review and delete content as needed. All data is safely housed in the cloud rather than on individual devices, ensuring files remain protected and free from the risks of local misplacement or unauthorized access.

Recorded sessions are available for playback and annotation for a default of 90 days from the date they are recorded (customers can customize the length of this timeframe). Afterward, the recordings are deidentified and longer accessible. Alternatively, at the customer’s preference, sessions can be deleted entirely and not retained in any form.

De-identifying sessions

Prior to any use by Lyssn for algorithm calibration, we remove all personal identifiable information associated with a session recording, then use both automated algorithms and targeted independent human review to find and remove identifying personal information mentioned in a session.

Learning from data

Lyssn works with our customers to build tools that understand nuanced counseling processes like empathy. For this purpose, we maintain a highly trained in-house team with diverse clinical backgrounds. With permission from consenting customers, this team reviews a small sample of sessions to assess empathy levels and other quality metrics. By reviewing privacy-protected, de-identified session data, Lyssn validates and calibrates our AI algorithms for accuracy.

Promoting informed consent

Sensitive and personal mental health conversations are private. Lyssn believes that all people should be made fully aware that a session is being recorded and the ways in which that recording might be used. Users of Lyssn are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent and being aware of the rules and laws governing the recording of sessions in the area. We can provide a template to use as a starting point for discussing and obtaining consent.
